What is the Propertymark Code of Conduct?

The Propertymark Code of Conduct, formally known as the Propertymark Conduct and Membership Rules, outlines the professional standards and ethical obligations for its members. These rules ensure members uphold high standards of practice, maintain transparency, and comply with relevant legislation, ultimately protecting consumers and maintaining the reputation of the property industry. 

Key aspects of the Propertymark Code of Conduct include:

• Client Money Protection (CMP):
  Members handling client money must be part of a CMP scheme to safeguard funds in case of misappropriation. 
• Independent Redress:
  Members must belong to one of the government-approved independent redress schemes, such as The Property Ombudsman (TPO), to provide a mechanism for resolving disputes. 
• Following Codes of Practice:
  Members are required to adhere to specific codes of practice, such as those set by The Property Ombudsman (TPO), to ensure consistent service delivery. 
• Regular Training and Compliance:
  Members must participate in ongoing training and stay updated on legal and regulatory changes. 
• Transparency and Accountability:
  Propertymark emphasises transparency in business practices and holds members accountable for their actions through a disciplinary process. 
• Commitment to Higher Standards:
  Propertymark members are expected to operate to higher standards than the minimum legal requirements. 
• Consumer Protection:
